Pterygium (skin growth)

Pterygium, pronounced te-ri-gi-um, is a condition where a raised spot of tissue begins to grow from the white part of the eye.

You’ll likely find it on both eyes (usually on the part closest to the nose).

It is not dangerous. However, you may prevent further growth by wearing sunglasses and lenses with UV protection when you’re outdoors.
