Eyelines is excited to announce a strategic partnership with Diabetes Tasmania.
Diabetes is the leading cause of vision loss and blindness in working age Australians. It is also a significant cause of vision loss in older Australians.
According to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW), diabetic retinopathy is the leading cause of blindness in people aged 30-69 years.
Too many Australians are presenting with vision loss from advanced disease. In many of these cases long-term visual outcomes are poor. Early detection and timely treatment can prevent the majority of diabetes-related vision loss.
Eyelines looks forward to working with Diabetes Tasmania to help educate Tasmanians on the important link between eye health and diabetes.
“Many Australians with diabetes don’t realise the importance of having regular eye tests, in fact only half undergo the recommended yearly eye examinations even though we know that early detection and treatment can prevent vision loss” said Paul Fountain, Eyelines Optometrist.
